Summersville
Memorial Hospital is a 109 bed acute care and extended care medical
facility. It consists of a 24 hour, 11 bed Emergency Department,
a six bed Intensive Care Unit (with an additional four observation
beds), a six bed Obstetrics Unit (with two additional birthing
suites), a 41 bed Med/Surg Unit, a well-equipped Surgery Unit
with three operating rooms, a 52 bed Extended Care Facility and
a full compliment of ancillary departments. A 37,000 square foot
Ambulatory Care Center opened in the Spring of 1996. The hospital
employs over 350 employees, and it has established itself as one
of the area's finest patient care facilities. The hospital experiences
nearly 50,000 patient encounters each year.
Five
full time physicians staff the Emergency Department of Summersville
Memorial Hospital, and over 25,000 patients are seen in the Emergency
Room of the hospital annually. The hospital also has an on-site
helipad to provide for the transport of more complex medical and
emergency cases to the larger medical providers in our area by
the Healthnet medical transport helicopters.
The
Radiology Department of Summersville Memorial Hospital is served
by three full time Radiologists, and services provided by this
department include general radiology, fluoroscopy, mammography,
ultrasound (including cardiac, vascular, abdominal, and prostate),
Nuclear Medicine and CT scanning. In addition, MRI scanning is
provided by a mobile unit on a twice a week basis. The Radiology
Department each year performs over 26,000 procedures.

of Yancy Short, MD General Surgery and Robert Fleer, MD Emergency
Room.
