The
Mountain Health Consortium of the West Virginia Rural Health Education
Partnerships program covers 10 counties in north-central West
Virginia. The ten counties are divided by geographic proximity
among two Site Coordinators who arrange rural clinical rotations
and community outreach activities for students of medicine, dentistry,
pharmacy, nursing, physical therapy, and other allied health professions.
As
part of the West Virginia Rural Health Education Partnerships
program, students from the afore mentioned programs at West Virginia
University, Marshall University, and The West Virginia School
of Osteopathic Medicine must complete at least three months of
clinical rotations in the rural areas of the state in order to
graduate. Mountain Health Consortium is one of 9 consortia around
the state that facilitates these rural placements.
