Group Agreement/SC Duties Review- Elizabeth Richmond
Each Site Coordinator was given five minutes to list characteristics of their Ideal Co-worker. They were then told to put a star by each characteristic they had listed which described them. Elizabeth explained that normally we would look for the same qualities we possess, in our co-workers. Qualities listed that did not have a star need further development.
Site coordinators were then asked to list Skills & Attitudes they want to improve, or develop.
Group agreements were posted and each coordinator was given a copy of WVRHEP Coordinator Process Group Agreement. Each process was read and defined by a coordinator.
Group agreements will be revisited at a later date.
Chuck Conner and Robert Blake explained the GASP (Guidance and Support Person) process.
Office of Rural Health
April requested that site coordinators send her an email regarding where they are in terms of their six-month goals. She stated that she is concerned how the process is working, if it is working, or if the process need to be redefined.
Jacquelynn asked how important it is to ORH for site coordinators to set goals. April replied that goals are not reported to the state, only the outcomes are reported. She said that having goals on paper helps her understand what the consortium hopes to accomplish, where the site coordinators are in the process and is also a tool she can use to assist a coordinator if needed.
A task force was formed to discuss the issue and make suggestions. A report will be given at the June Site Coordinator meeting. Members of the task force include: April Vestal, Carla Campbell, Chuck Conner, Robert Blake, Penny Rose Asbury and Jane Horst.
Hilda reported that the Legislature is currently working on passing the budget this week, but still no word on the status. Last week, several individuals received calls from their Legislators asking for our FEIN number as they were working on the budget. Hilda drafted a letter to all Senators and sent this along with the one-pager explaining where additional appropriation would be going if funded.
Hilda will email a Legislative up-date next week and will also inform site coordinators if it is necessary for site coordinators, community and board members to contact their legislators for further action.
Hilda announced that MSW graduate students working with RHEP beginning in July 2001 are:
Drew Dunlap, who will continue with the ORH in Erin Condo's place.
Stacy Swinson, who will take a joint placement between ORH and the End of Life Care project.
Steve Fumich, who will be working on the grant for recycled medical equipment.
Jim Keresztury- WV Initiative to Improve End of Life Care
Is willing to train students or person at RHEP sites to go out into the communities to discuss ways to improve end of life care. A video, now being circulated in some elementary schools, is available for group presentations.
Purpose of initiative is to:
A tape is also available which explains completing advanced directives. (This tape is not for public viewing.)
Carla See, MS, CHES WVU School of Pharmacy & Melanie Cupp, PharmD- WVU School of Pharmacy.
Carla discussed the experiential education curriculum for PharmD students for 2001-2002 and explained the categories (i.e., dispensing sites, acute care, ambulatory care, selective and elective rotations), the shortages of both sites and preceptors, and how the SOP schedules the 11 four-week blocks. She also discussed issues/concerns students have while on an "acute" rotation, which is very demanding and does not allow time to attend IDS and participate in community service. Carla also provided a handout with this information in more detail to the group.
Carla requested site coordinators to email her at csee@hsc.wvu.edu regarding their consortium board process for adding additional pharmacy sites. She is interested in knowing if she can make the decision to set up a new site or if the board must approve the site/preceptor.
