New Business
Literacy Project – Charlotte Nath & Elaine Mason presented an overview of the Environmental Assessment for Potential Barriers to Patients with low literacy. This project is required for WVU Medical Students, but other disciplines are welcome to participate and use materials. All of the information is available on WVU SOLE (Student on-line Learning Environment).
DRAFT service learning policy – April passed out copies of the draft service learning policy for the committee’s review/comment. After some discussion, it was decided that some of the wording in the policy was confusing. The committee suggested further clarifications to the policy be made by the sub-committee who developed the policy.
Other new business – Carla indicated that the school of pharmacy is interested in suggestions for students doing multiple rotations and how this impacts the requirements of RHEP. Suggestions on how to handle this. April and Carla will discuss this and report back to the group. Kathryn Greenlief and Bob Foster also volunteered. Kathryn will also ask for volunteers at the next site coordinator meeting. Hilda suggested that perhaps in communications to the student, the coordinator could say “if you’ve done 3 or more RHEP rotations, please contact me”. Jodie said that from an evaluation standpoint, she would like students entered in TRACKER as IN.
