Joint
Community Outreach/Curriculum Committee Minutes
Conference
Call
Attendees: Dennis McCutcheon, Patti Crawford, Carla See, Bob Foster, Kathleen Bors, April Vestal
Old Business
The
committee summarized accomplishments to date: the Outreach/Curriculum Committee
has reclaimed the Visions Document, utilizing it as a model and reference for
tracking RHEP-wide accomplishments and incorporating HP2010 goals. Our next step, introduced at and approved by
the Advisory Panel May '02, was to assign and charge each RHEP-wide committee
with the tasks of: identifying their committee's accomplishments according to
the Visions/hp2010 documents, and encouraging them to identify committee goals
for the future
Our
two-fold purpose in this task is to:
-
collect and document our work for legislative audit, to enhance a favorable
review, to secure/augment funding
- ensure a valuable, cohesive, credible curriculum
Individual
assignments were made within our committee, May meeting; project was introduced
in some detail by Bors at Schools Committee, May '02. The committee chairs were notified by mail,
Memo of 7/05/02 with cover letter detailing project, and attached assignments,
the "Working Document"; July, Sept Panel meetings cancelled; the
Visions Working Document Reports was reproduced, dated 09/09/02, and resent to
the Committee chairs;
O/C
committee members reminded by email
few responses from individual members were initially
received, but no formal committee reports as of conference call
Old Business 3. Individual assignments were received; Patti
discussed hers, 4.2 in detail, incorporating Pilot Site project work with
Shannon Bell: an adhoc committee /Task Group of
Jodi/Mike McCarthy, Patti, Kathryn Greenlief, Henry
Taylor and others; working to expand the Flagship Objectives to include more
documenting options for all partners; and created a master template to
incorporate into Tracker (Mike, Patti) to
assist Site Coordinator's in capturing outcomes---Patti
emailed us copy of the Draft for this. In development by Dr Taylor, Jodi is a
"Student Checklist" detailing, explaining for
RHEP
students the importance of the HP 2010 goals and how their community service
applies to these goals;
We referred to Minutes of May 20 to remind ourselves of last
formal meeting plans and O/C individual work
New Business:
"revitalize" our committee's efforts: discussion from all members brainstormed these ideas:
1. resend copy of letter to chairs, with individual committee
assignments highlighted in some way (ie,
Finance Committee, list clearly the actual Recommendation assignments RecommendationI...) with copy of Bors/Patti's
templates as example;
-2.
reinforce the importance of this assignment by reviewing at Nov 18 Advisory
Panel meeting (April); Dennis will speak to Hilda to encourage all Chairs or a
designee to attend; purpose to reintroduce the project and its goals especially
its ***potential importance to next legislative audit and and
funding approval****the responses from the committee chairs will enable the
RHEP-wide community to "prove ourselves clearly"
to the legislature
3. make in-person presentation at each committee , during an upcoming Panel meeting; O/C committee will assign an O/C committee member to be the responsible liaison/presenter to each committee (can be done at Nov 18 O/C mtg), to facilitate dialogue and follow-up on obtaining feedback from these Visions Document assignments
With
no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
