Faculty Development Conference Call Meeting

Monday, August 28, 2007

In Attendance:  Carla See, Imogene Foster, Helen Baker, Crystal Welch, Dan Brody, April Vestal, Jill Cochran, Rosemarie Cannarella

September 30 Conference – Helen Baker reported that things are on track for the conference.  April indicated that the only concern she had was that there were only 11 confirmations of field faculty participants from the RHEP/AHEC consortia and regions.  The committee discussed this and April agreed to contact sites who had not responded.  April will send a copy of the flier to the committee as some of them would also like to make contacts.

SOLE Module – Jill reported that the SOLE module she facilitated on childhood obesity in July and August had went very well.  She indicated that the reflections by many of the students were very good and that she is working with Jodie on the process for being able to use these comments in various presentations etc.  April is working with Rosie on a case for September and October regarding evaluation of falls in the elderly.  The committee discussed that this might be a good topic to present to the On-Site Clinical Directors at the 2007 conference.  The goal is to have 6 cases posted by June 2007 – one new case every other month.

Faculty development conference – Saturday, March 3, 2007 at the Waterfront Place Hotel in Morgantown - OSCD training should be the night before or day after.  The conference should be held 10AM – 5PM.  Suggestion to hold meetings by discipline over lunch.  Theme for conference?  The committee decided they would like to think about topics and theme and provide suggestions at a later time.  April will email the group topic suggestions from the faculty development survey and solicit suggestions.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
