In Attendance:  Helen Baker, April Vestal, Helen Mitchell, Rosie Cannarella, Jane Horst, Jill Cochran, Ralph Utzman, Carla See, Dan Brody, Sara Jane Gainor, Michelle Kopf

2003 Conference Location – The 2003 conference will be held September 19-21 at Stonewall Jackson Resort.  The committee urged April to check on the cancellation policy and to clearly put information in the brochure regarding charges for meals and room for “significant other.”

The committee discussed entertainment for Friday night of the conference.  Line dancing or square dancing was suggested.  April will check with Holli Smith about this.

Sara Jane asked if the committee would be willing to intersperse the geriatric pieces of the conference into the entire conference.  This would give the perception that the GEC piece was part of the entire conference and not that RHEP ends on Saturday afternoon and GEC begins.  After some discussion, the committee agreed to intermix MSGEC sessions throughout the conference and end on Saturday evening, leaving Sunday open for golf or other family activities.  The schedule of sessions was again discussed and contact assignments made.

Helen suggested adding a question to the registration:

My practice is

__ Mostly 18 & under

__ Mostly 18 & over

__ An equal mix

__ Does not apply

SOP concern and response   The committee discussed with Carla the concern from the School of Pharmacy regarding the absence of pharmacy representation on the Mock IDS committee.  The committee discussed this concern with Carla and told her that a letter was being developed to send to the Dean regarding this matter.  The committee felt they had taken steps to find a pharmacy representative, but were unable to find a representative.  Carla offered her services on the committee and as a contact for future times when a pharmacy representative is needed.  Rosie said that the mock IDS idea was a “grass-roots” effort and this is why school representatives were not contacted.  Jane suggested that Carla be cc’d on the minutes of committee meetings in case she is not able to attend.  Carla was invited to attend future faculty development committee meetings until a representative is located.  Jill said that she had spoken with Rick Leatherman RPh, who works in her consortium (Country Roads) and he indicated he would be willing to be on the committee.  Helen Mitchell, MD from Southern Counties has also agreed to be on the committee.

Rosie said that April 11 at Braxton LRC from 10AM – 3PM the Faculty Development Committee and OSCD’s will be invited to attend a work session on the future of IDS sessions.

The committee agreed to contact Marshall again about committee representation.  Rosie will send a letter to this effect.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
