Jodie Jackson
introduced the new Professional Technologist in the Office of Rural Health,
Rose Albert. Rose will be responsible
for data requests and data integrity within the TRACKER system.
Jodie informed
the committee of the status of the new version of TRACKER. Mike McCarthy is presently in the process of
purchasing a new server. As soon as the
new server arrives, he will upload the new version of TRACKER onto the
server. He will keep everyone notified.
Jodie
distributed the SERFE response rate for the time period, 1/1/06 – 6/30/06. Response rates have definitely improved now
that students are getting three email reminders. The goal is to have a minimum response rate of 75%. Schools with 10 or more RHEP rotations that
fell below 75% are MU medicine, MU nursing, WVU dental hygiene, WVU nursing,
WVU-Chas medicine and WVUIT. Consortia
falling below the 75% response rate are NWRHEC, Region 4 and WVHEC. Kathleen Bors stated that she would like to
see a breakdown of the response rate for the WVU-Chas 3rd year vs 4th
year RHEP students.
Kathleen Bors,
MD, reported that the WVU med school is currently going through accreditation
by LCME and that LCME considers the RHEP experience of med students a strength
of the medical school’s ability to meet the Educational Directive #14,
community and rural health experience.
Jodie discussed
the following addition to Question #2 of the SERFE: to add “Participation in a web-based Interdisciplinary case study
on SOLE” as one of the options of Question #2, “I had the opportunity to
participate in the following interdisciplinary activities”. This new option would follow
“Interdisciplinary (group) Session(s) (IDS”, “Observation of another or other
discipline(s)” and “Participation in a project with another or other disciplines”. Students will be able to select one or more
of the options and state the approximate number of hours spent in the activity
and the quality of the activity (poor, fair, good, very good, and
excellent). The Evaluation Committee
was in favor of this addition and recommended that Jodie submit this to IRB
after confirming with school representative and site coordinators that “SOLE”
was an acronym that students will recognize.
The question was asked whether or not there should be a question about
the AHEC IDT as part of Question #2 of the SERFE. Jodie reported that questions about the AHEC IDT are covered by
the questions at the end of the SERFE that are seen only by AHEC students.
